Yamaha has unveiled its very impressive adventure touring style motorbike. The 2011 Yamaha XT1200Z Super Ténéré appears to be taking aim at the BMW R1200GS. A few of the specs that I find interesting are the six gallon tank, spoked tubeless wheels, ABS, traction control, three selectable ignition maps, a 1199cc parallel twin engine and shaft drive. Wow! That is one cool bike. Oh wait, it will probably be yet another great bike that will not make its way across the pond.

It's to bad we only by cruisers and sport bikes in this country. Maybe if I click my heals together three times.  Sad

Yes,
I have been looking at the New Yamaha Super Tenere as well.  I have had great luck with Yamaha's and if and when this becomes available I may check one out. There is alot to like about the Super Tenere, the abs new and traction control alone would be a nice upgrade.

There has been some discusion over on the FJ site about the specs and if I'm not mistaken they will be available across the pond in the late spring. Yamaha may do as they did for the FJR here in the states and allow folks to pre order to see how much interest there is in the new bike.

It is nice to see there are other options comming out instead of the two we have had for the past decade or so.

On paper this bike has just about everything I could want in a motorcycle. I would love to see Yamaha give us a chance to buy this one.

I hope in time we can see them here in the states. But I dont think I would buy one brand new due to the cost, give them a couple years and the price may be worth taking the plunge on a low miliage used model. Its nice to see the makers offering more options and most makers are thinking about the adventure riders these days. Just look how many folks are on the ADV board there is a market for them...

David we all have our demons, and I may take a bike out of a new one if and when they ever arrive.  If the Tenere is half the bike my FJ has been it may be the last bike I ever ride...
