Since last summer I  ditched my denim and regular riding pants for what I feel may be a more practical and durable pant solution for my every day riding. My wife turned me on to the Wrangler Riggs work pants one day when she brought me a pair home to try. I liked them so much I had her pick me up another 4 pair. These things are ripstop, triple stitched, double layered down below the knee and very comfortable to boot.

I know they are not as much protection as regular riding pants but I can't walk around in motorcycle pants all day at work either.

If you are looking for an affordable tough pant have a look at the Wrangler Riggs   Cool

Carharrt is an option if you're gonna wear jeans.  They have couple styles that feature very heavy denim (12/13 oz), plus heavy stitching, plus rivets, plus double layer on front from upper thigh to well below knee.  PLUS there's opening into those double layers so you could insert knee protection!  One of the styles is called LOGGERS, but can't remember other style name.

I run under boot pants at my races but when Im out anywhere else I run over the boot.

I might start wearing my Thor zip off riding pants at the AGP races to help keep me cool.
